New shoes to hand out.

Rosario hands out shoes to the most needy.

Rosario hands out shoes to the most needy.

Rosario runs the clinic front office and is our ‘intake’ person, the first to greet the patients and hand out numbers, and keep the waiting room (which many times has 70 people) organized.

Here are some of the shoes that were donated which are given to the neediest families. In a few cases, families will pay about $0.60 for a new pair of shoes.

The children are so happy for a new pair of shoes, it can only remind you of what most of us take for granted.

Calendar of Events

We use the word “mission team” as a broad term for teams and groups who come to visit us and perform work in the clinic or help out or build projects or do activities.

We’re actively seeking groups who would like to come to Guatemala and help out in a variety of ways. Most groups who come on a building project will also bring the funds to pay for the materials for the work that they will do while here.

If you would be interested in more information, let us know what you have in mind to do, how many people and the approximate dates. We take care of arranging everything for you including transportation, lodging, food and side trips and help you prepare a budget for your trip.

Currently-scheduled groups include those listed below.

November 22 to 27, 2009
Thanksgiving week Dental Clinic w Dr. Steve Humbert, DDS
What a great blessing that Dr. Humbert volunteered to spend
his Thanksgiving Week vacation time in Guatemala, doing
dental work for the poor and needy.  We really appreciated when he was here for more
than a week earlier this year, and heartily welcome him back to our clinic again.

March 17 -20, 2009
Dental Team
Dr. Don and Peggy Orth return once again. They have come to our clinic several times a year for the past 5 years and have blessed many hundreds of villagers with dental care.  Note:  IT WAS A GREAT TRIP and so many were wonderfully cared-for by the Orths!

March 21 – 29, 2009
Light of Life Mennonite Church, Farmington, New Mexico

Phillip and Pat Rosenberger & Family, plus several young people from Light of Life Mennonite Church, Farmington, New Mexico

Phil is the pastor, and his wife Pat is a nurse. The group will work some in the clinic and we’ll also pour at least three concrete floors for very poor widows and families.  Note: THIS GROUP DID SO WELL, and poured floors and blessed many!

April 25- May 9, 2009
Stan J. from Denver, CO.

Stan has a great deal of experience in construction, design and problem solving. He’s coordinated and designed small and large projects in other third world countries. Stan has offered to help us design and plan the construction of the new Community Center that we hope to build this year.

A group of medical students will visit the Hands of Hope clinic during their time in Guatemala. They have been wonderfully supportive of the clinic and our work here. They will help in the clinic, do lice shampoo treatments and help build and deliver wooden beds to the very poor.

Note: The group of 14 helped in the clinic, did dozens of lice shampoos, made beds and painted an entire school!
